A story of resilience: the Ukrainian Armed Forces major who proved that life has no limits
Sports prosthesis: Ukrainian Armed Forces major runs London Marathon
Modern sports prosthetics at the Tellus prosthetic care center open up endless possibilities for an active life. Ukrainian Armed Forces major Alexei completed the 42 km London Marathon with a running prosthesis.
After graduating from military academy, Alexei began his service in Mariupol in an amphibious assault company of the marine corps. In 2020, while carrying out a combat mission in the Gorlovka area, he was seriously wounded—he stepped on a mine and lost his leg. He underwent nine difficult operations, the last of which was a reamputation, which made it possible to fit him with a modern running prosthesis.
From rehabilitation to sporting victories, despite all the difficulties, Alexei did not stop. In 2025, he completed his military service with the rank of major and began a new stage in his life as a private entrepreneur. At the same time, he began to actively engage in sports and achieve high results.
London Marathon: 42 km on a running prosthesis
In 2024, Alexei did something pretty awesome—he ran the London Marathon. With his sports prosthesis, he covered the 42 km distance. His participation had an important goal—to raise money for the rehabilitation of wounded Ukrainian soldiers.
Modern prosthetics: returning to an active life
Today, Alexei’s life is practically no different from that of a person without a prosthesis. The only exception is that he chooses a car with an automatic transmission. In all other respects, Alexei lives an active, dynamic, and fulfilling life.
