After-hip-disarticulation prostheses

description
characteristic
specifications

After-hip-disarticulation prostheses are attached using a specialized semi-corset. The hip module is connected to the front or bottom of the corset. Such mechanical modules replace the natural work of the hip and consist of modular design elements, a knee joint, and a foot.

The complexity of such prostheses relates to the fact that a person lacks 3 main joints: hip, knee, and ankle.

At the same time, a person needs to spend more effort and needs strong muscles of the buttocks and abdomen to fully use such a prosthesis.

After-hip-disarticulation prostheses from Tellus in Odesa

Amputation with disarticulation of the hip joint is one of the most difficult procedures, since the entire leg is cut off, not part of it, which is relatively easy to replace with a standard prosthesis. Such operations are performed in cases of severe injuries, and to restore normal lifestyle, the solution would be to use an after-hip-disarticulation prosthesis.

Tellus Prosthetic and Orthopedic Care Center in Ukraine manufactures professional and reliable devices for everyone.

Complexities and features of the prosthesis after hip disarticulation

After surgery to disarticulate the hip joint, the prosthetic procedure becomes several times more complicated. Under other conditions, the device is controlled using a stump and muscle movement, but in this case, there is no stump, and it is much more difficult to control mobility of the device. In addition, the prosthetist needs to select a product that will have three main joints to compensate for the loss of joints.

A modular after-hip-disarticulation prosthesis helps restoring functionality of the leg and normalize a person’s life. This process requires not only long-term training and preparation of the body, but also learning how to use the device and how to take care of it.

A modern mechanism compensates for shortcomings and lack of capabilities. Therefore, installing a functional device instead of a leg helps having normal lifestyle.

After-hip-disarticulation prostheses have the following advantages:

  • helps maintaining body stability;
  • allows walking and even going in for active sports;
  • prosthesis is attached with belts and sensors that allow controlling the device;
  • 3D rotation of joints to ensure natural walking.
