Sitting orthosis or orthopedic chair

Orthoses are external orthopedic devices designed to correct, stabilize and compensate for disorders of the musculoskeletal system, as well as provide protection and relief for joints.

An orthopedic chair is necessary for children with disabilities who cannot independently take and fix a sitting position.

Indications for a sitting orthosis:

  • spinal muscular atrophy and related syndromes
  • muscular dystrophy
  • cerebral palsy
  • tetraplegia
  • long-term consequences of a spinal fracture
  • long-term consequences of spinal cord injuries
  • long-term consequences of other neck injuries

When receiving free of charge, all orthoses, including a sitting orthosis, are provided to children under 18 years of age as they grow.
