Life is worth living it in an interesting way

My name is Christine. Last year I got into a car accident. I was taken to the hospital without a leg, with multiple fractures and very severe traumatic shock. To tell the truth, I did not immediately understand that a traumatic amputation of the leg had occurred, and for some reason no one dared to tell me about it. I discovered it by accident myself a couple of days later in intensive care. Over a short period of time there were many operations. In total, I was in the hospital for almost 3 months.

Because of a knee injury to my intact leg, it took me a very long time to rehabilitate and prepare for prosthetics. The first time I stood on a prosthesis was 8 months after the amputation. It was at that time in my life that I became depressed and, frankly speaking, I didn’t see the point of living on. At first, I couldn’t accept the prosthesis as I had been in a wheelchair for a long time and then on crutches. It was a very difficult period in my life.

To everyone who is just beginning this path, I advise not to make hasty conclusions. Pain goes away, wounds heal. Be more patient, look for meaning in something. You remain the same person, only with peculiarities.

Thanks to the Program “Equity” by the City Council, I received financing for the electronic assembly.

For me, the advent of a functional prosthesis has opened up new possibilities. Now I am looking for myself in sports and I get great pleasure when I see my body improving and my strength increasing.

I can do ski races, strength training in the gym, conquer the tops of mountains. Life is brighter than it was before the accident. I meet a lot of people with different disabilities.

I never thought about the fact that I am ashamed to walk on a prosthesis. At the same time, I don’t have a goal to be intentionally distinct due to it. I think that first of all, the personality should be distinct and then the amputation and prosthesis. I chose a black knee knot and I think it’s very stylish. When I’m wearing a skirt and solid shoes, it looks very unusual, like a person from the future..

Through joint efforts, the Prosthesis Center Tellus and I made up with convenient stump sleeve and adjusted the knee assembly for my needs. This was not easy and took plenty of time, but I am thankful to them for their labor-intensive work.

Life is worth living it in an interesting way, and the electronic assembly Freedom innovations Plié electronic assembly helps me with that.
